PDS™ Antibacterial Violet Monofilament (Polydioxanone) Absorbable Surgical Suture, 0, 27", CT-1 is a synthetic, absorbable monofilament suture that incorporates an antibacterial agent to provide protection against colonization of the suture by bacteria. The active antibacterial component, IRGACARE® MP (triclosan), is uniformly dispersed throughout the suture material to reduce the risk of surgical site infections.

The suture offers extended wound support by retaining approximately 80% of its original tensile strength at two weeks, 70% at four weeks, and 60% at six weeks post-implantation. This prolonged strength retention makes it suitable for use in procedures where longer tissue support is required during healing. The predictable degradation profile ensures gradual loss of tensile strength with minimal tissue reaction.

Complete mass absorption occurs between 183 and 238 days through hydrolysis. The suture undergoes minimal inflammatory response and is eventually absorbed without residue. Its monofilament construction allows for smooth passage through tissue, minimizing trauma and tissue drag while maintaining consistent knot security.
